Q1. What is a MSD device?

A.     MSD stands for Mass Storage Device. It is used to describe any storage media that is most of the time recognized by the computer as Plug and Play.

Q2. What is UMS?

A.     UMS stands for USB Mass Storage. This is a storage media of a MSD type which uses a USB port as a means of connecting with your computer.

Q3. What is MP3?

A.     MP3 is a short term for MPEG Audio Layer 3. It is a compressed form of audio file with varying settings for quality.

Q4. What is WMA?

A.     WMA is Windows Media Audio, Microsoft's version of audio compression. The quality is a bit better than that of MP3 and it can also be protected with a copyright tag. Most legally sold music on the internet is in this form with the copyright tag so that you cannot distribute it freely.

Q5. Can I just copy music from CDs into an MPIO MP3 player?

A.     CDs are encoded in a CDA, Compact Disk Audio, format and are only supported by CD players. You need to compress your music into MP3 or WMA format prior to transferring them to your player. This method of compression is called Ripping.

Q6. What can I use to Rip a music or audio CD?

A.     You can use many different programs available from third party software vendors. If you are a PC user, the most popular ones are Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, Music Match Jukebox, etc. If you are a Mac user, then you can use iTunes. Please make sure that the encoding format is selected at MP3 audio for all the above mentioned programs or they will not work. If your program of choice is Windows Media Player, then you may also use the WMA format, although you might want to have the copy protection option unchecked for ease of use with all MPIO brand MP3 players.

For free software you can use to RIP your CD's to your computer

Q8. How can I copy my MP3 files into my UMS type MP3 player?

A.     Please follow the suggestions we have outlined here.

Q9. How can I copy my MP3 files into my non-UMS type MP3 player?

A.     Please do the following:

Q10. I can't copy music to my MP3 player although it's not totally full?

  1. This problem is found on most MP3 flash players, The problem occurs while you copy all of you files into the ROOT directory(like so F:\ )to solve this issue you will need to create and put your songs in sub-directories, (like ROCK, JAZZ, BLUES Etc)  and moving your music    files to the created directories, this will help you organize your files and make browsing them    easier on the player it self, instead of going through a 200 song list you will be able to find each song very easily.

Q11. I purchased music On-Line but it will not play or show on my MP3 player?

  1. Songs purchased On-Line are DRM protected, some of the MP3 players will not play protected songs(like the I-Bulldog       IMP-90,FE-100 and  HD200,HD300), Some players will support this file format automatically with no need of third party          software or driver, you should check our support page for your player to see if you might need a Windows Media Player    Plug In download it and install, and you can transfersongs through Windows Media Player to your MP3 player and listen to   your new songs.
  2. For players which do not support DRM files, you could burn your music on a CD and then RIP back the CD to your computer
